OAKMUN Event

Unity in an Age of Division

In a world marked by the outbreak of countless wars, rising international tensions, and deepening ideological divides, this theme calls upon delegates to confront one of the most urgent challenges of our time: disunity.

As the international landscape becomes increasingly fragmented, the need for cooperation has never been more critical. At OAKMUN 2026, we believe the most powerful tools against division are dialogue and diplomacy. It is because of this that we challenge delegates to step into the shoes of real-world leaders and work together to address this crisis head-on.

Over three days of intense academic debate, we invite you to rise to this challenge and prove that even in a divided world, unity remains possible.

New Developments

Looking ahead –

OAKMUN Key Innovations

OAKMUN 2026 represents a bold step forward in our conference’s history. This year, we have reimagined what OAKMUN can be—more ambitious, more inclusive, more intellectually rigorous, and more reflective of the real United Nations. From the structure of our committees to the scope of our topics and the diversity of our delegates, OAKMUN 2026 is designed to challenge, inspire, and elevate every participant.

A New Committee Structure: Tailored to Every Delegate

For the first time in OAKMUN history, committees are structured by experience level. In previous years, all delegates—regardless of background—were placed into the same format. This year, we introduce beginner-level, intermediate-level, and expert-level committees, ensuring that every delegate is both supported and challenged appropriately.

As part of this transformation, all intermediate and expert committees are entirely new to OAKMUN, offering experienced delegates fresh environments that demand higher-level diplomacy, deeper research, and more strategic debate.

Expanding Beyond Traditional UN Bodies

While previous editions of OAKMUN focused exclusively on core UN committees—such as the General Assembly, Human Rights Council, ECOSOC, the Women’s Committee, and the Security Council—OAKMUN 2026 broadens its scope to reflect the complexity of modern global governance.

This year, we proudly introduce specialized and dynamic committees, including:

  • G20
  • African Union
  • European Council
  • NATO
  • Historical Committee

These committees expose delegates to diverse decision-making systems, regional dynamics, and real-world power structures, offering a more immersive and realistic diplomatic experience.

A Three-Day Conference Experience

OAKMUN 2026 expands from a two-day to a three-day conference, allowing for deeper debate, stronger resolutions, and more meaningful delegate engagement. This extended format enables committees to move beyond surface-level discussion and into genuine policy-building and negotiation.

Two Topics Per Committee: Deeper, More Relevant Debate

Thanks to our expanded structure, each committee will debate two distinct topics, a first for OAKMUN. Our Secretariat dedicated significant time to crafting cutting-edge, thought-provoking issues rooted in the most pressing global developments of 2025.

Examples include:

  • ECOSOC Topic 1: Safeguarding the economies of trade-reliant countries from worldwide tariffs
  • Women’s Committee Topic 1: Combating the sexualization and exploitation of women in AI-generated content and deepfakes

These topics were deliberately chosen to move away from the “well-trodden” debates seen at many conferences, challenging delegates to engage with emerging crises, new technologies, and evolving global realities.

A Truly International Conference

OAKMUN 2026 marks a historic milestone as the first edition to host schools from more than two countries. This expansion significantly enhances the diversity of perspectives within our committees, bringing us closer to the multicultural, multinational environment of the real United Nations.

By welcoming a wider range of voices, experiences, and worldviews, OAKMUN 2026 becomes not just a simulation—but a genuine forum for global dialogue.

OAKMUN 2026 is not simply a continuation of past conferences—it is a redefinition.
We invite delegates and guests to be part of this new chapter: one that values innovation, inclusivity, and meaningful diplomacy at every level.
